Awareness Beads were created in the memory of two very special women that have touched my life tremendously.
My oldest sister Michelle Renee Abbott died July 17,1998 at the age of 30 after battling Anorexia and Bulimia for 18 years.
My dear friend Deanne E. Horn died March 1, 2003 from Liver Cancer at the age of 36.
Dee was my jewelry and beading buddy! She was always known for her courage and sweet smile!
After researching to see what colors represented their diseases I came to the realization that the only awareness jewelry I could find was for Breast Cancer. Which is fantastic but there are so many other causes out there that deserve to be recognized as well!
I wanted to wear a bracelet that represented Michelle and Deanne’s causes so therefore I had to design the ribbons and have them made! That led me to the great idea of “Awareness Beads.”
I wish and hope with Awareness Beads we all can raise Awareness, Money for Research, make a piece of jewelry to wear that represents something that we believe in or want to help find a cure for.
